Reacting to concerns about the Omicron Variant, Australia announced in November 2021 it would be delaying the planned re-opening of its borders from December 1st to 15th for international students.
Despite this closure, the state of New South Wales has taken steps to protect its international students pilot plan, keeping its borders open to bring 250 foreign students back for the start of the university year.
The first cohort of arrivals landed in Sydney on the 6th of December, flying in from Singapore according to the New South Wales government’s International Student Arrivals Pilot Plan.
