Today, Acumen announced the acquisition of EduCorePro, an AI-enabled admissions technology company focused on transforming international student recruitment and enrolment operations.

As part of the acquisition, EduCorePro founder and CEO Bhushan Samant will join Acumen as Chief Technology Officer of Acumen’s global Admissions and  Enrolment Services division. The transaction integrates EduCorePro’s technology platform, products and specialist AI team into Acumen’s Admissions and  Enrolment Services business, significantly strengthening the company’s ability to deliver more efficient, accurate and targeted enrolment outcomes for universities globally.

The acquisition marks an important milestone in Acumen’s strategy to combine world-class human expertise with advanced AI-enabled operational capability. Through the integration, Acumennow delivers a next-generation enrolment platform that combines our extensive human-led enrolment intelligence and sector expertise with EduCorePro’s computational and automation capabilities designed specifically for higher education admissions and recruitment functions.

The move comes at a time of significant operational change across the international higher education sector. Universities globally are facing increasing pressure around compliance, application quality, fraud detection, visa credibility, operational efficiency and conversion performance, while simultaneously managing growing application volumes and heightened student expectations around speed, responsiveness and user experience.

Institutions are also under increasing pressure to modernise admissions and enrolment operations without materially increasing institutional cost bases. The growing complexity of international recruitment markets, agent ecosystems and compliance obligations is accelerating demand for technology-enabled operational transformation across recruitment and admissions functions.

EduCorePro has developed a suite of AI-enabled products focused on improving admissions workflows, document handling, applicant engagement, operational reporting and enrolment intelligence within international admissions environments. The combined platform will support universities in improving application turnaround times, applicant engagement, conversion efficiency and operational scalability across both domestic and international recruitment functions.

The acquisition also brings into Acumen a specialist team of AI experts with deep experience in the international admissions sector, further accelerating the company’s broader strategy to embed AI-enabled operational transformation across its services and client delivery functions.

Bhushan Samant, Founder and CEO of EduCorePro and incoming CTO of PACE, said:

“Acumen was the ideal organisation for us to partner with. The company has built tremendous trust, credibility and operational scale across the global higher education sector, and there was a strong alignment between EduCorePro’s vision and Acumen’s leadership objectives. Together, we have an opportunity to fundamentally improve how institutions manage recruitment, admissions and enrolment operations through the intelligent and responsible application of AI technologies.”

Adrian Mutton, Executive Chairman of Acumen, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Bhushan Samant and the EduCorePro team to Acumen. We have been incredibly impressed with their technical capabilities, their deep understanding of the international admissions environment and their thoughtful approach to helping institutions adopt AI responsibly and effectively.

International student recruitment and admissions is entering a period of profound operational change. Universities are increasingly being challenged to improve compliance oversight, identify and prioritise high-quality applicants more effectively, strengthen fraud detection processes, improve applicant response times and deliver a significantly better student experience — all while operating within tighter financial and operational constraints.

It is now no longer a question of whether universities will adopt AI technology to improve their recruitment and admissions functions — it is a question of how quickly and how strategically they deploy it. Institutions that fail to embrace AI-enabled operational transformation over the next 18 months will increasingly find that their cost base, compliance capability, student experience and competitive positioning come under significant pressure.

We believe the future of admissions and enrolment management will combine the speed, intelligence and scalability of AI-enabled systems with experienced human oversight, judgement and sector expertise. Over the past few months, our teams have designed some genuinely innovative products and services which we believe will significantly transform how domestic and international admissions offices function, combining the power of AI technology with human oversight.

Together, Acumen and EduCorePro are creating solutions specifically designed for the operational realities universities are now facing globally — including intelligent application triaging, fraud detection support, workflow automation, predictive enrolment intelligence and scalable admissions management. The combination of Acumen’s global delivery infrastructure and EduCorePro’s AI-enabled technology capabilities creates a very powerful platform for the future.”

The acquisition forms part of Acumen’s wider strategy to continue scaling technology-enabled services across student recruitment, enrolment operations, transnational education and global mobility.

Acumen supports universities globally with international recruitment operations, application processing, admissions management, conversion activity, applicant engagement and enrolment optimisation at scale. The integration of EduCorePro’s AI-enabled products will further strengthen the company’s ability to support institutions with:

  • AI-enabled application triaging and prioritisation of high-quality applicants;
  • enhanced fraud detection support and document verification workflows;
  • intelligent admissions workflow automation and operational efficiency;
  • faster applicant engagement, communication and response management;
  • predictive enrolment intelligence and conversion optimisation; and
  • scalable admissions management designed to support increasing global application volumes without proportional increases in institutional cost base.

The combined business will continue investing in AI-enabled operational solutions designed specifically for the higher education sector, with a focus on improving student experience, operational efficiency, institutional scalability, compliance capability and data-informed enrolment decision making.
